The territory, the northern part of the former East Prussia, borders
EU countries Poland and Lithuania and is geographically separated from the rest
of Russia.
Originally named Königsberg in German (Russian: Кёнигсберг,
Lithuanian: Karaliaučius, Polish: Królewiec, Old Prussian:Twānkstathe,
Latin: Regiomontium) town founded in 1255.
