Córdoba (also Cordova) is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, and
the capital of the province of Córdoba.
Tourism is especially intense in Córdoba during May as during this month
the city hosts three very popular festivals; The May Crosses Festival,
The Patios Festival and Córdoba's Fair. May Crosses lasts between three
or four days in the beginning of the month and consists of crosses, up
to 3 meters in height being placed in many squares and streets,
decorated with flowers, with a contest being held to choose the most
beautiful one.
The Patios Festival is celebrated during the second and third week of
the month. Many houses of the historic centre open their private patios
to the public and compete in a contest. The Córdoba's Fair takes place at the end of
the month and is similar to, if smaller than, the better known Seville
Fair.
There are several museums to visit in the city, including, the
Archaeological and Ethnological Museum of Córdoba, Julio Romero de Torres
Museum, Museum of Fine Arts and the Bullfighting Museum.
