Thiruvananthapuram (Malayalam: തിരുവനന്തപുരം), also known as Trivandrum,
is the capital of the Indian state of Kerala and the headquarters of the
Thiruvananthapuram District. It is located on the west coast of
India near the extreme south of the mainland.
Thiruvananthapuram is one of the most beautiful cities in India, known as The
City Of Holy Serpent- the holy serpent on which Lord Vishnu reclines.
Thiruvananthapuram is an ancient city, with roots going back to 1000 BC.
Thiruvananthapuram was also the centre of India's space program. The first
Indian space rocket was launched from the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, located
in the outskirts of the city, in 1966.
